The General Epistle of Samuel (a busy busy week)‏

December 16, 2013

Hello one and all!

Well another wonderful week has been completed here in the blesses land of Ipswich. It has been very busy and full of exciting events. The first of the week was the usual. We had quite a few appointments and a busy day on wednesday. I was looking forward to our appointments on wednesday but then our fearless disctrict leader planned a work over so I was unable to attend. I was a bit worried for Elder Martinez because he was going with another missionary trying to learn english as well. They were able to manage though so that was good. We did have an appointment with the Elders quorum president and his family to teach his son all the lessons before he turns 8. This was the appointment I was most concerned about because neithere of the two missionaries that went to the appointment are comfortable teaching children. Plus his wife is not a member and she is showing the first signs of interest in the church so we need to do the best job possible. I talked with the Elders Quorum president on saturday at the christmas party and asked him how it all went and he said he's sure it all went over his sons head lol. I'll be looking up some stuff on LDS.org in the primary section to get some ideas on how to teach. Turns out that all those pre-school swimming lessons that I taught are paying off!

Thursday was a big day since that was our zone conference with Elder Dyches. It was a great conference and I learned quite a bit. He talked to us about doing missionary work with real intent not just doing the bare minimum. He admonished us to go above and beyond and do all we can in order to fulfull our purpose as missionaries. It was a great conference and yes I payed attention lol.

Saturday was probable to the most stressful day this week though. It was steves baptism (don't worry he showed up) so we had a lot to do. We got a call the night before though saying we needed to fill the font so that meant that we had to get up at five to get ready. Walk to the chapel and get the water going since the service was at ten that morning. Surprisingly though it all worked out and it was a great experience for Steve. Some of his family came as well so that was great. They were very astonished at the change in their son since he was a thorough atheist before the missionaries showed up. Now we are working to get him in the temple to do baptisms by the 27th!

It has been a great week full of wonderful experiences. I can't believe how fast the time is flying by though. I am enjoying the work here and love the ward. I am so grateful for all of your love and support and wish you all a very merry Christmas!

Love,
Elder Dalton
